On 15 September 2010, Caritas Jordan/ Awareness Unit in cooperation with Volunteers Center held a workshop on HIV/AIDS at Volunteers Center for (5) parishes from Amman and Center committees (the coordinator and one member from each committee) to prepare them as facilitators for HIV/AIDS awareness at their parishes.

The workshop that gathered committees of Salt, Fuhies, Madaba, Jbeiha and South Zarqa Latin, in addition to (8 m/f) employees and (3) other volunteers focused on HIV/AIDS disease and its dangerous affect on human beings and our community, all from the perspective of the Catholic Social Teaching.
The workshop concentrated also on the ways of delivering such topics for youth and the most interesting points they usually ask about.

The facilitator of the workshop, Mr. Nicola Dababneh, mentioned important facts and focused on the protection methods for HIV/AIDS. Dr. Juman Dawoud, GP/Caritas Jordan, participated with important information from a medical point of view.

Two training book manuals were distributed on the doctors and the trainers for the purpose of TOT (Training Of Trainers); “Ministering to those affected by HIV/AIDS” by MCC (Mennonite Central Committee) and “Handbook for the barefoot Counselors” by CRS (Catholic Relief Services).
At the end of the workshop all participants received a brochure with HIV/AIDS facts and concepts and a calendar on “Training Skills on HIV/AIDS Awareness” both designed by Caritas Jordan.
