On 15 September
2010, Caritas
Jordan/
Awareness Unit
in cooperation
with Volunteers
Center held a
workshop on
HIV/AIDS at
Volunteers
Center for (5)
parishes from
Amman and Center
committees (the
coordinator and
one member from
each committee)
to prepare them
as facilitators
for HIV/AIDS
awareness at
their parishes.
The workshop
that gathered
committees of
Salt, Fuhies,
Madaba, Jbeiha
and South Zarqa
Latin, in
addition to (8
m/f) employees
and (3) other
volunteers
focused on
HIV/AIDS disease
and its
dangerous affect
on human beings
and our
community, all
from the
perspective of
the Catholic
Social Teaching.
The workshop
concentrated
also on the ways
of delivering
such topics for
youth and the
most interesting
points they
usually ask
about.

The facilitator
of the workshop,
Mr. Nicola
Dababneh,
mentioned
important facts
and focused on
the protection
methods for
HIV/AIDS. Dr.
Juman Dawoud,
GP/Caritas
Jordan,
participated
with important
information from
a medical point
of view.
Two training
book manuals
were distributed
on the doctors
and the trainers
for the purpose
of TOT (Training
Of Trainers);
“Ministering
to those
affected by
HIV/AIDS”
by MCC
(Mennonite
Central
Committee) and “Handbook
for the barefoot
Counselors”
by CRS
(Catholic Relief
Services).
At the end of
the workshop all
participants
received a
brochure with
HIV/AIDS facts
and concepts and
a calendar on “Training
Skills on
HIV/AIDS
Awareness”
both designed by
Caritas Jordan.
