Winter Campaign in Salt
02 December 2025
The annual Winter Campaign was launched in the city of Salt under the patronage of the Governor of Balqa, Mr. Salman Najada Al-Akram, and in the presence of the Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Giovanni Pietro Dal Tozo, and the General Director of Caritas Jordan, Mr. Wael Suleiman. The event was organized by the Association of Love and Mercy, represented by its director, Mr. Michel Fashho, at the Latin Monastery in Salt.
At the start of the event, Father Tarek Hijazin, Priest of the Latin Parish in Salt, welcomed the attendees, praising the church’s role in humanitarian work since its inception, and emphasizing the importance of coexistence, fraternity, and love among different segments of society. Father Hijazin noted that these values formed the foundation of the church’s mission and its approach to serving humanity. He stressed that the church has always been, and will continue to be, an active partner in social and charitable work. He added that Caritas Jordan embodies these values in a practical way through its ongoing mission to stand with the needy, providing the necessary support to individuals and families most affected by difficult economic conditions, especially during the harsh winter season.
The event was attended by many prominent figures and dignitaries from Salt, who highlighted the importance of social solidarity and continuous support for needy families across the kingdom, particularly during the winter, which exacerbates the hardships of low-income families. The attendees included the Mayor of Salt, Engineer Mohammad Al-Hayyari, the Director of Intelligence in Balqa, Saad Al-Khasawneh, the Head of the Governorate Council, Ibrahim Al-Awamleh, the Mufti of Balqa, Mohammad Al-Blawneh, Father Nektarios Haddad, Priest of the Greek Orthodox Parish, and Father Bishara Haddad, Priest of the Greek Catholic Parish.

Annual Youth Volunteer Camps
29 July 2025
The first of Caritas Jordan’s annual youth volunteer camps has commenced in Karak governorate, specifically at the Latin Parish in Ader. The camp is organized by Volunteer Program in cooperation with the Italian association “Non Dalla Guerra” (No to War), and runs from July 26 to August 8, 2025.
This camp includes the participation of 17 volunteers from Italy alongside 7 Jordanian participants, coordinated with the parish priest of the Latin Church in Ader, Father Salem Loulos.
The camp activities include a variety of volunteer, social, and cultural events, such as field visits to refugee families, creative and artistic workshops for children at the Art Center, a clay workshop in cooperation with the Caritas Center in Karak, assistance in organizing mobile clinic services, and the implementation of a summer educational and recreational school for parish children aged 11 to 16.
It is worth noting that these camps are held annually in different parishes across Jordan, aiming to promote cultural exchange and a volunteering experience among youth, while empowering their role in community service. This aligns with Caritas Jordan’s mission of solidarity, service, and partnership.
The second camp will be held at the Latin Parish in Hashmi, starting on August 9, 2025.
